Helen
Bolger
“My creative process
is often an enquiry into the bigger questions in life.
The images are very often referred to as spiritual,
although I have rarely set out on a painting or sculpture
with this intention. Interpersonal relationships within
society also influence my observational pieces.”
For Helen, the process of producing
art is a visual diary of her feelings and observations,
allowing her to portray and clarify her inner thoughts.
The final works portray not a complete solution to
a question but fulfil her need to personally re-experience
a concept at that time.
Helen’s daily encounters with people are absorbed
and explored through art. The figure in the painting
is more than a visual representation of what she has
observed. Instead, she continues to explore the situations
presented to her in life.
Helen’s inspiration comes
from many sources but it is the transient nature of
everyday being that intrigues her and the need to
physically engage with the art process to reach a
greater understanding.
