"Following
a Fine Art (Painting) Degree in London, I have worked
as a painter using abstract /semi abstract subject
matter. After obtaining my own kiln, I have been able
to explore the medium of clay and glaze with great
freedom. As a painter I am very interested in the
decoration of the ceramic surface using shape, colour,
texture and relief.
"My
wall plaques are based on images taken from my paintings.
Using earthstone clay each piece is slab built, with
relief, incised and bisque fired. I use a variety
of underglazes, opaque and semi-transparent glazes
and lustres, with 2-4 firings per wall plaque. The
plaques are mounted on white board or on an etched
glass back plate. Each piece is unique.
"The
ceramic pendants are made from white earthenware clay
to three designs (tube, triangle and knot) and are
glazed with a variety of colours. "
