Nicole's
current series of work is titled 'Optical Landscapes'.
The optical qualities of glass serve as an ongoing
foundation for development within these works. The
thickness of the form gives the illusion of space,
creating an optical lens. The black and white photographic
images reference the Australian landscape, and are
highlighted by the refraction of light through the
glass form.
The
Optical Landscape series are hot blown, then cut and
polished. The gel medium photograpic image is then
applied after the piece has been coldworked. The gel
medium process is where a photographic image is embeded
into the gel medium. This gel is then coated onto
the back surface of the glass form.
