Ruth Lyne
Ruth's work in based on the colours
and textures found on beaches. She is interested in
the way industrial materials and objects are reclaimed
by nature but still keep a geometric quality.
The bowls and dishes are made
by placing metal leaf, powder or wire between two
pieces of window glass and heating them in a kiln
until all the layers fuse together. This produces
a flat sheet that is then placed in a mould and reheated
in the kiln. As the glass gets hotter it softens and
sags into the mould taking its form.
Below
are examples of Ruth's work - a selection is available
within the gallery.
