Trudy
Lynn
Born in 1960, Trudy has always had a passion for art.
She gained a BA Hons in Fine Art from St Martins School
of Art London but went on to work as an interior designer
for 20 years. Throughout her career as a designer,
Trudy continued to produce commissioned art works
for clients in the UK and internationally as well
as showing occasionally in exhibitions.
Now
working solely as an artist, Trudy revisits a lifetime
of memories. Using her professional designers eye
for the use of colour and form, Trudy has integrated
these visual elements with the use of type-forms and
found objects creating emotional overtones amongst
the layers and texture.
With
suggestion of personal memories, nothing is necessarily
what it seems. Each viewer may see and read something
different in the paintings...which is exactly Trudy's
intention.
The
story behind 'Let's make our skirts into hats'
"Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to
meet Sandra Blow RA. Having accompnied my partner
Gary Treadwell whilst he took what was to become the
last photographic portrait of her before she sadly
passed away. We spent a wonderful couple of hours
in her company which will be a treasured memory for
us both. During my visit I happened to mention to
Sandra that I loved her hat and she explained that
she had made it from an old skirt. The title for this
work was therefore created by her and the attached
pieces were given to me by Sandra from her collection
of off cuts. A truly remarkable woman and a truly
remarkable artist."
