Young
Victoria Young has been working
as an artist since 1990 specialising in conceptual
art using silkscreen painting and a unique layering
technique for this process. She is also experienced
in conventional and graphic photography.
Having gained a BA (hons) from
the University of Hertfordshire, Victoria now works
independently in her own studio. As well having a
solid base of private and corporate buyers her work
has a bias towards the community as her work often
has a social and local connection.
Her art focuses on architecture
and landscape. The concept in Victoria's work involves
the placing of imagery into an imaginary composition,
overlaying several times in order to achieve extraordinary
depth and colour. The paint is applied in thin layers
and the resultant transparency allows the viewer to
see each layer. Her
main interest is in abstracting from the landscape
with a view to reinterpreting by the layering of images.
Recent works have included
a number of historical and contemporary buildings
in major towns and cities. The work is unique in its
construction and technique resulting in pieces that
generate interest and fascination as viewers are able
to relate to their own surroundings.
Balancing her time between
producing art and developing her theoretical knowledge,
Victoria also teaches at higher level.
