About
Shoppers
in the BS1 area of Bristol are in for a special treat this
December as local businesses and artists come together to
celebrate art in all its forms. The BS1 Arts Trail, which
takes place between 7–9 December, features cafés,
bars, shop windows and gardens and even empty shop spaces
are being opened up especially for this three-day event.
With
participants ranging from students, to renowned artists,
and across art forms from paint, textiles, ceramics, music,
sculpture and more, the BS1 Arts Trail promises to be a
diverse and entertaining three-day arts event.
Symbolising
the coming together of a community to have fun and explore
creativity, couldn’t be better represented than by
HumDrumStrum who will mark the opening of the Arts Trail
on the evening of 7 December. So come along and bang a drum!
Kids
can join in the fun too with face painting, an exhibition
of childrens' book illustrations and a hands-on printmaking
event just for kids.
Christmas
Steps Area Association
The Christmas Steps Area Association is co-ordinating this
year’s Arts Trail. The association has provided support
for over 25 years to businesses and residents of this distinct
and diverse part of old Bristol. Businesses here are largely
owned by independent traders, including many creative or
design-based enterprises and the area is home to students,
families and residents of historic alms houses.
Arts
And Business South West
The BS1 Arts Trail has attracted support and investment
from Arts and Business – the leading advocate for
the benefits of partnership between business and the arts
and a national creative network inspiring business people
to support the arts.
James
Taljaard, Acting Director, of Arts & Business South
West says, “We are very pleased to support the Christmas
Steps Area Association as the Arts Trail they are developing
and sponsoring is an excellent example of how business and
arts can work together for mutual benefit.“
